Objectives

I’m running for Wyoming State House District 14.  There are four specific areas I want to advance when elected: Economic Development, K-12 and Higher Education, Water Rights and Transportation.

Economic Development

Many businesses have formed since I moved to Laramie as a young boy. Sadly, I’ve seen many close their doors. Economic development is not just about starting more new businesses in Laramie and Albany County, it’s also about helping existing businesses thrive and succeed in a changing business environment.

  • I am committed to maintaining the low tax, light regulation environment that has made Wyoming prosperous and provided jobs for Wyomingites.
  • More grant funding and start-up opportunities for existing and new small businesses.
  • Working with property owners to fill empty buildings with local businesses.

Education K-12

We as a state need to determine how to continually support and fund our local schools on a good budget line and not rely on rainy day funds or fluctuating mineral funds.

  • More support for our K-12 teachers through out the state, specifically in our remote and rural areas.
  • More pre-k/preschool options to better prepare our younger generation.
  • Increase high school graduation rates.

Higher Education Opportunities

More certifications, training programs, trade programs, and higher education opportunities for those in Wyoming to create a more educated workforce.

  • More options for Hathaway Funding in every Wyoming higher education institution.

Water Rights for the State of Wyoming

Having served on the Laramie City council for 20 years I watched water rights for our community debated multiple times. Wyoming has been giving water to other US states for years and now we’re seeing the long-term effects. I want to work to protect our existing water rights to help our county and our state.

Technology Needs and Requirements

We want to stay abreast of the current trends in transportation and training in this field given how it could affect our state. We need to look at more diverse revenue options to meet the changing world around us while still maintaining our roots.
